Come On 2008!
Ok, so it's been a minute since we've been on here.....but it's all good! It has been a crazy year of revelations, epiphanies and just down right sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Vice Prez (that's me!) has now relocated with Prez to H-Town....and loving it! Yea, I miss Dallas on occassion, but not enough to move back.
As 2007 comes to a close I think about everything that has happened in the past year and since we blogged last on here......we have lost loved ones (Vice Prez's grandma, Maggie VanWinkle (Aug. 2006) & Prez's dad James Brown (Aug. 2007)).....gained new loved ones (he knows who he is)!
One thing is definitely for sure.....we survived through it all and there is nothing but good things to come in 2008....so bring it!

"The Cosmo Rouge Experience"
From the Prez..........
* The "Crowntini", created by the Supreme Bartender Mr. Travis- the neo-soulful blonde @ The Cosmo Rouge, was one of the most well blended cocktails I have ever savored!! The smooth, mellow blends of Crown Royal, Grande Marnier, pineapple juice ( I refuse to divulge the complete recipe.......) left such a sensational tingle on the tongue that I have to RAVE about it!!! This drink has earned the Diva purple rose stamp of approval. - Go Travis!!!!!
The Cosmo Rouge Restaurant and Jazz Lounge has an awe-inspiring, intoxicating atmosphere that soothes away any tensions or anxieties that may be plaguing you that day. The red, crushed velvet walls, the soft lighting, pulsating jazz tunes, and the deep blue lit corners tucked ever so nicely around the bar area- reflect just the perfect spot to get cozy and relaxed with that special someone or a group of friends (old and new). This is a perfect spot for the Girls Night Getaway, a reunion of a lost loved one; a casual atmosphere to sample a touch of class and culture. The food is light enough to delicately soothe the pallet as well as satisfy the tummy. This will be a definite gathering spot for both business and pleasure.
Hope to see you there!!!!

Crowntini Anyone?
Prez & VP of Diva Savvy
Tonight we went to this spot called Cosmo Rouge in the Bishop Arts District. We have to put the link on here so you can check out this place ( www.cosmorouge.com ) Nice atmosphere, good food, GREAT drinks!!! Travis was the bartender.....we highly recommend he be the one to hook up that "Tini" you desire. We personally had the Crowntini......it was worth every bit of $12! If you care to dine there, VP suggests that you ask for Charles to serve as host at your table. We had someone different but it's always nice to help a "brotha" out! Just another hot spot to add to the "divalicious" list!

"Whatever, Whatever, Whatever, What-e-va"
That song by Jill Scott, "Whatever", has become the theme song for Miss President and I (Vice-President)! I all started last weekend. That was the weekend Prez talked me into coming to Houston where she was for the All-Star weekend. Much to my surprise everything possible, made it possible for me to get there.
It seemed like everytime one of us made a statement that was deep in some form or fashion......."Whatever, Whatever, Whatever, What-e-vaaaaa"........it was my beau texting me on my phone. So now, it seems from that point on that is the song that describes it all in one word.....Whatever!
Tonight, the Diva Savvy officers met and then headed out to the movies....of course we had to pay Madea a visit!!! That movie was so good! Where should we start?
Well....... to keep everything in perspective, you know we have to pull out the machete on Carlos (played by Blair Underwood). Just exactly who in the #@!! does he think he is???? O.K.... so you got a little bit of money; a smidgen of culture. You can wear a nice tailored suit; conduct a board meeting, as well as pimp a mother into selling the soul of her own children for a few dollars and a lot of control; but, when it comes to your Black Goddess at home, the one you say you love, you regard her as a trophy dog. One to chastise and demean when it's behavior does not quite suit your pallet at that particuar moment. As long as she heels, sits, eats, and speaks on command, she is your love, your charm, your trophy and deserves the "privilege" to dine in your company, to invade your world of culture. But you think nothing at all about slapping her to the floor, choking her to near death; leaving hidden marks and bruises (hidden because you think you slick) on her body; then thinking if you spend a little bit of money towards her (not ON her) that everything will again be alright with the world. Would you really do that much to a dog? Don't you think, Mr. Carlos, that the beautiful black woman that you are laying your hand on will get tired one day....................AND BEAT YO @$$ DOWN?!
Lesson Ladies...... You don't have to go as far as hot grits and a frying pan to let him know that you are not a punching bag. But make it clear that very FIRST TIME he lays a hand on you that it will be the first and last!
Needless to say, we didn't like Carlos! But overall it was a good movie and portrayed that good ol' Black Luv!
Just for the heck of it, we gotta play "Whatever, Whatever, Whatever, What-e-va" to that!!!
I had a great time hanging in H-town last weekend as well as hanging with tha "Divas" tonight.......even if we were about to whoop some kids like their mama's never did........"Whatever, Whatever, Whatever, What-e-va!"

Looking For A Good Man?!?!
10 Things to Remember When Looking For A Good Man
by Brandon H.
A good man fears his Maker first, and is a gentleman next.
A good man will leave his mark in your heart hours after he leaves.
A good man possesses patience, compassion, and empathy.
A good man won't tell you he's a good man, his actions will...
A good man remembers when it counts.
A good man is another way of saying "Quality Time Engineer".
A good man knows when to be about his business and when his business is his lady, he minds his own business.
A good man will not lose.
A good man knows a good woman.
A good man sees a break-up as a blessing, because he has had the pleasure of getting to know a new woman and embraces the positive memories they shared.
A friend of mine wrote this. Something to keep in mind...the "good man"actually does exist. They pop up when you least expect it!

The Difference between Girls and Women...Which One are You?
Girls vs. Grown Women
Girls leave their schedule wide-open and wait for a guy to call and make plans.
Grown women make their own plans and nicely tell the guy to get in where he fits in.
Girls want to control the man in their life.
Grown women know that if he's truly hers, he doesn't need controlling.
Girls check you for not calling them.
Grown women are too busy to realize you hadn't.
Girls try to put a man 'on lock' by using sex.
Grown women know that it's the sex of the mental kind that makes a man want to 'lock' you down.
Girls fake-moan, lay there and take the stabbing.
Grown women say, "Just stop", get up, get dressed and walk it out.
Girls are afraid to be alone.
Grown women revel in it--using it as a time for personal growth.
Girls ignore the good guys.
Grown women ignore the bad guys.
Girls make you come.
Grown women make you come home.
Girls worry about not being pretty and/or good enough for their man.
Grown women know that they are pretty and/or good enough for any man.
Girls try to monopolize all their man's time (i.e. don't want him hanging with his friends).
Grown women realize that a lil' bit of space makes the 'together time' even more special and goes to kick it with her own friends!
Girls think a guy crying is weak.
Grown women offer their shoulder and a tissue.
Girls want to be spoiled and 'tell' their man so.
Grown women show him and make him comfortable enough to reciprocate w/o fear of losing his manhood.
Girls get hurt by one man and make all men pay for it.
Grown women know that that was just one man.
Girls fall in love, chase aimlessly after the object of their affection, ignoring all signs.
Grown women know that sometimes the one you love, don't always love you back and move on without bitterness.
Girls will read this and get an attitude.
Grown women will read this and pass it on to other grown women!!
Think About it!!!! BE BLESSED.
This was forwarded to me from a very special individual. I felt it my duty to send this out to all Divas. Read this and take the self test. Which category are you in at this stage in your life? If you find yourself with Girlish tendencies, then it's time to GROW UP!! If you find yourself reflecting the DIVA qualities that ALL WOMEN have (sometimes we just need to bring them back to the surface) then KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!
Have A Blessed Day and stay tuned for more Diva Savvy!!!!!!!
